Question: Are you persuaded?
—–
Acts 17:1 Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews.
2 Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures,
3 explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus whom I preach to you is the Christ.”
4 And some of them were persuaded; and a great multitude of the devout Greeks, and not a few of the leading women, joined Paul and Silas.

I remember when I was persuaded. My high school friend, Michael, gave me a study Bible. The study Bible’s notes had several topical studies you could follow throughout the Old and New Testaments. I remember following the topical references for salvation more than once. I was also attending church with Michael hearing the words preached. Being an atheist, the process took a long time, much longer than three weeks as it says in this passage.

But eventually the beauty of nature proved to me that there was a God, and the scriptures proved to me that Jesus Christ was this God. I was finally persuaded, and I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior!

Don’t give up on those who seem to have no interest in Jesus. Pray that God will work in their lives and bring them to the point where they will listen. Then reason with them and explain to them why Jesus died and rose for them. Preach to them from the scriptures consistently.

Do you have a child or family member who will listen? Is there a friend who will listen? Teach them and pray that they will be persuaded. And just as I, they may also join with you in your faith in Jesus. Amen.
