Question: How can we mentor those believers who love God’s word?
—–
Acts17:11 These (Bareans) were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.
12 Therefore many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men.
13 But when the Jews from Thessalonica learned that the word of God was preached by Paul at Berea, they came there also and stirred up the crowds.
14 Then immediately the brethren sent Paul away, to go to the sea; but both Silas and Timothy remained there.

Why did Silas and Timothy remain in Barea? Look at other Christians around you. In your small circle, how many of them are really hungry for God’s Word like these Bareans? How many have an open mind willing to learn more, how many are eager to study the scriptures, how many study daily as they? Truly believers like the Bareans are special. Although Paul was forced to leave, he left Silas and Timothy behind. He wanted to invest as much time as possible in these Bareans.

Think through the names of Christians you know. Which ones, or possibly which one, are like these Bareans? What can you do to encourage them?

Pastor, parent, friend, invest as much time as possible in these Christians.
What other things can we do to encourage them?

Why are not all Christians like the Bareans? How about us? Are we hungry for His Word, do we delight in His Word? If not, then why not? What in this world is distracting us from his spiritual milk and meat? Is not His Word more valuable than silver and gold?

Father give us love for your Word. Give us a desire to keep learning the Holy Scriptures. For man does not live by bread alone….but by every Word which proceeds from the mouth of God.
