Question: How long will you Teach? Are you faithful in Service?
Acts 18: 7 And he departed from there and entered the house of a certain man named Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue.
8 Then Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his household. And many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized.
9 Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, “Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent;
10 “for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city.”
11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.
After preaching in the synagogue, Paul went to the house of Justice. Then Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed, and many of the Corinthians believed and were baptized. God was bringing forth fruit from Paul’s labor in Corinth. Last, The Lord told Paul in a vision that He had many people in this city.
Paul must of felt that he was at some risk in Corinth because the Lord told him to not to be afraid and that no one will attack him to hurt him. How blessed we are in the United States that we are still free from concern of experiencing this type of persecution.
Where are we speaking God’s Word?
The Lord told Paul to speak, and do not keep silent. Are we speaking the gospel to others? Does your church have an outreach ministry? If so, join and get involved. If not, then start an outreach ministry of your own. Speak, and do not be silent. Currently, I serve in two organizations. First, I serve as an Online Missionary with Global Media Outreach answering emails of seekers and believers all around the world. We receive about 5000 emails daily, so apply online, we can use your help. Second, I volunteer with the local Family Court. This is a great opportunity to teach the youth in the court system about our Lord Jesus as a faith-based volunteer. There are other ways to speak as well, such as: speaking with others door to door, to co-workers, to friends, and even through this WordPress blog. Let us especially speak the Word of God to those in our own home. Please comment where you are serving and speaking.
Are we working alone?
The Lord told Paul “I am with you”. These are the same words he told the disciples in the Great Commission. It is comforting to know that Jesus is with us, and He has a purpose for us.
Do we know how many people The Lord has within our sphere of influence?
Last, He told Paul He had many people in this city. Corinth was very corrupt, and if the Lord had many people in that city, then possibly He has many people in our city as well.
How long will you teach?
Let us be faithful in our service and continue to teach the Word of God within the ministry that The Lord already has us. Most people will not believe immediately. It may take multiple times of hearing the Word before they will make a decision for Christ. Let us stay faithful in speaking the Word as Paul, who stayed in Corinth for 1 1/2 years. Do not have ADHD when it comes to serving. Put in the labor, stay focused, and invest your life into those souls. As Paul, there may come a time to move to another task, but let’s be prepared to stay awhile until The Lord directs us otherwise.
God bless, Bob
