Colossians 1 verses 19 to 20

19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in the Son
20 and through him to reconcile all things to himself by making peace through the blood of his cross – through him, whether things on earth or things in heaven.

Key words and phrases:

  • All fullness dwell – many think intended is the fullness of the nature of God, but in context, John Gill thinks the intent is that Christ is full of grace and peace to be communicated and dispensed to men
  • Reconcile – to make peace
  • Blood of his cross – the death of Jesus for man’s judgement
  • Things on earth or things in heaven – reconciled all the saints throughout history

Listening Prayer method – a method where you write what you think God would say to you after meditating and studying a Bible passage.

Bob, I am full of the nature of God. I am the creator, I am omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, and immutable.

I am full of grace and peace. Mankind deserved death, but the Father sent Me full of grace and peace to save the saints. Before, the saints sacrificed animals for their sins, but those sacrifices were a shadow of my sacrifice – the Lamb Of God who takes away the sin of the world. Now men can have peace with God because the penalty of their sin has been satisfied by the blood of My cross.

Go tell others the good news!!  I was sent to bring this peace. Now the saints need to go tell the world.
