Key words and phrases:

And- connects above verses to this verse

You – Colossians

We’re dead in your transgressions and in the uncircumcision of your flesh – meaning before Christ, the Colossians’ relationship with God was dead because of their sinful deeds and because of their sinful nature which continuously caused them to sin.

He nevertheless – meaning the redemptive work is by God’s work and not by our work and He did this inspite of our dead and sinful condition.

Made you alive with him – meaning God made the dead Colossians alive with Christ. A)  they are alive with Christ in their conversion, in the inward man, In their regeneration, and in their sanctification; and B) they are alive in Christ in God’s eyes, positionally before God, and justified before Him.

Having forgiven all your transgressions – meaning all the past, present, and future sins of the Colossians have now been removed by forgiveness. Their account of offenses are no longer held against them which had caused the death between the Colossians and God.

Listening Prayer method – a method where you write what you think God would say to you after meditating and studying a Bible passage.

Are You Forgiven?

Take comfort knowing that all your transgressions have been erased.  I am all knowing, and all your sins are known like a list before Me. Your offenses stank before Me. Your uncircumcised-sinful nature did nothing but cause you to transgress My laws by sinning over and over. You were My enemy. You know what you and all mankind deserved because of your sins. Did I not make an agreement with your representative, Adam, to not eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil?  And do you remember the consequence I told him if he ate?  I said that he will die in the day that he ate of it. And he did eat, and you have all disobeyed similarly to Adam. And you personally have disobeyed Me!  Therefore, all men deserve death! And indeed all men are dead to Me!

Yet, did you see how merciful I was to cover Adam with those animal skins. That animal died for Adam that day. And that animal and all the animal sacrifices in My law were pointing to the ultimate sacrifice of the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world, meaning My Son. His sacrifice was once and for all. My wrath for sin was satisfied by the death of My only begotten Son.

But, mankind’s sins could not keep My Son dead. I raised Him up from the dead. He is alive and He has victory over sin and death!!!  Like Adam, my Son, the second Adam, is your representative who died for your sin and had victory over death by the resurection. In my eyes you are alive in Him. Also, In your inner man, you are alive with Him through faith and regeneration. That sinful list and that horrid account of your filthy sins has been forgiven you. Rest in this truth and grace. Rejoice in My mercy and love.  Now be motivated to live a life of holiness by resisting sin. But know if you stumble, your sins, all of your sins, are forever forgiven. Rest in that!
