Colossians 3:17 (NET)
17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
And – This conjunction connects the previous list of virtues, the call of the body to live by His peace and to be thankful, the call to let His word dwell richly within, to teach and admonish others, and to sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.

giving thanks to God the Father – meaning the believer is to be grateful to our Father for the opportunity to teach, sing, and serve others. Every Word and Deed?
Do you think your current position in life is by chance? No, it is all part of My plan. Your parents, birth place, education, abilities, home, children, friends, job, community, and service opportunities are all part of My plan.
All of your speaking and actions toward others are also part of My plan. No longer think the same way when you speak or act. Instead, speak, act, and live in a way that represents and glorifies Me. Choose your words carefully and encourage others.
Be thankful for all of these opportunities. Do you understand that I have designed your life to have an eternal influence on others? Feel thankful and privileged instead of burdened and stressed in taking care of your responsibilities toward others.
